Volunteers have done most of the work done to establish the first acre Preview Garden. Additional projects need to be completed, docents need to be trained, and the actual gardening is an ongoing and growing challenge!

Volunteers are welcome to help out in the garden any time the gate is open and any Saturday morning from 8:00 to noon. You can find a map to the gardens here. Volunteers are recognized during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

WALK IN VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are welcome on Saturday mornings. The volunteer supervisor will offer a choice of tasks, and get you started with some quick training on how to accomplish the task.

PLANTING DAY VOLUNTEERS
Be notified when we have a special workday that requires many hands. Sign up at the garden or by email to be notified of our big days.

SEGMENT VOLUNTEERS
Commit to care for garden segments twice a month, by arrangement with the volunteer coordinator.

VOLUNTEER SUPERVISORS
Additional training is provided in irrigation, plant identification, planting, horticulture and plans for the garden. This involves a commitment to one Saturday every 6 weeks.

DOCENTS
Give tours to small groups and individuals as they visit the garden. Docents greet volunteers and give tours on workdays, freeing the volunteer supervisors to concentrate on technical details. Training provided in plant identification, the Mission of the garden, future plans for the garden, and the concepts demonstrated in garden segments.

YOUTH GARDENERS COORDINATOR
Plan children’s events in the garden; small projects aimed at young gardeners, and give tours to youth groups and school groups.

SPECIAL VOLUNTEERS
Expertise in various areas is needed: Fund raising, computer work, mechanical or wood working skills.
